donations

I am coming up on my first deadline for Bike & Build. I need to raise at least $500 by the end of the year. Any contributions, no matter the size, are greatly appreciated. All donations are tax-deductible and go to build awareness for the affordable housing issue across America.
I will be biking from Charleston, SC to Santa Cruz, CA with 26 other young adults passionate about this issue. Along the way we will be stopping to help groups like Habitat for Humanity and ReBuilding Together build houses.
Thank you all in advance.

Training

Did a little bit of training today. Spent two hours on my road pedaling. 32 miles. Went from White Oak Crossing out to Triangle Town Center and back. A couple of weeks ago I managed a 33 mile loop and took a pit stop at work.

I'm working myself up to some larger rides I'll be doing in the spring. I have to finish a 65+ mile ride prior to leaving on my trip as part of my agreement. My plan is to complete a ride from Greensboro to Chapel Hill and bike with the guys from Revolution Cycles in Greensboro. I also plan to spend some time riding in the mountains. The Hanging Rock State Park to Pilot Mountain ride is calling my name already.

First Post

So I suppose it's time to make a post.

This blog is set up to keep track of me over the next year or so as I train and eventually ride my bike from Charleston, SC to Santa Cruz, CA with a group called Bike & Build (www.bikeandbuild.org). Not only will I be biking the 4,131 miles, but we make stops along the way to help build houses for affordable housing groups across the US. We even get to spend 9 days in Colorado Springs to build a house from the bottom up.

In order for me to participate, I have to fundraise $4,000 that gets donated to Bike & Build and is subsequently distributed to affordable housing organizations. Donations can be made through the website. All donations are tax deductible also. Any little bit will help me out a bunch. Bike & Build has raised over 2.3 million dollars in the past seven seasons to help the affordable housing cause.

This blog is basically a place for the donors to be able to track my progress, so they can see where there money is going exactly. So I'll be keeping track of my training over the next 6 months or so, and I will also be updating this throughout my trip.

So thank you, everyone, in advance for your help and support.
